Teach English in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan Program

This program is being operated in cooperation with the Tucson - Almaty Sister Cities Committee in Tucson and the Kazakhstan Branch of Nomadica Education, an agency operating worldwide assisting students with university entry.

If, after reading the following, you are interested in potentially participating in the Kazakhstan Program please fill out the "Kazakhstan Interest Form" available through the link at the left.

If you have not participated in a TFF program within the last three years, please fill out our general application form by clicking Here.

  • There will be openings for two teachers at any time.

Summer months are not highly demanded in comparison with academic year period. July is a vacation period. There has been an inquiry from local school teachers to conduct one month training for them in June. After that the best time to come is the second part of August-beginning of September.
At this point September is filled. One person wants to go in October and all other months are open.

  • Teachers can choose between one-month or two-month assignments.

  • Teaching (classes) will begin early every month.

  • Rather than emphasizing speaking skills, Nomadica Education would like us to help prepare students for American College/University entrance exams including the TOEFL and SAT exams.

  • The Nomadica Foundation will provide to TFF information regarding the instructional objectives of the classes as well as a sample class schedule, regarding the texts and other materials used by the classes.

  • You will be responsible for classes six hours per day, five days per week. Each day will consist of two, three hour sessions with two different groups of students. Classes will typically be with 10 students or fewer.

  • TFF teachers will also, in so far as it assists preparation for the tests above, encourage the students to improve their spoken English.

  • As with the China Program, you will be responsible for your round-trip transportation costs between the US and Kazakhstan.

  • You will receive a stipend to realistically cover day-to-day expenses including
food, local transportation, etc. Your stipend will also cover housing. However,
Nomadica Education will make all arrangements. Rather than a hotel, they will find a comfortable apartment with Western amenities. Each teacher will have his/her own room. Although the final amount is still under discussion, it will be at least $1500 for the month. The apartment will be available 2 - 3 days before the first teaching day. Teachers are responsible for cleaning the apartment. Kitchens will have supplies for meal preparation.

  • Teaching will usually be held in the capital city, Astana, or alternately in Almaty. Sometimes there might be short business trips to other regions of Kazakhstan (as short-term courses or training).

  • An English-speaking person will be assigned to assist you both for educational and personal activities during your stay. This person would assist with clerical tasks such as making copies, getting classroom supplies, assisting with the computer equipment, etc. They would also assist the teachers to acclimate to the city, showing them places to eat, to buy groceries, clothes, etc.

  • Any travel costs within Kazakhstan directly related to the teaching assignment will be assumed by Nomadica Education. This would include travel from the airport to place of residence, travel from the residence to the class (if necessary), intercity travel if necessary within the teaching assignment.

  • Classrooms will have adequate heating / air conditioning appropriate to the season.

  • Classrooms will be equipped with a computer and projection monitor.

  • Internet access either at the residence or at the school will be available.

  • Nomadica Education will provide weekend excursions once or twice a month at no cost to you.
