Teachers must be native English speakers, in excellent health, with at least a bachelor’s degree in any field. Enthusiasm, stamina, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity are also important. It is not necessary that participants have any professional teaching experience, although experience facilitating any type of group discussions is helpful. Some of our best teachers have had no formal teacher training beyond the training sessions, materials, and on-campus support we have been able to provide.
There is a $50 fee on acceptance to the program. This includes three orientation/training sessions, an activity workbook/CD and a "get acquainted" party. It also helps us to cover expenses such as printing, postage and handling.
Our largest program for 2010 will be at Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST), one of China’s leading universities, in Wuhan, China. Wuhan is a large and increasingly important city, which is located approximately 400 miles west of Shanghai on the Yangtze River. You will live and have classes on HUST’s lovely campus, about thirty minutes from downtown Wuhan.
All TFF programs provide:
- Preservice Training
- Chinese teaching assistant
- Hotel accommodations
(equivalent to three to four star hotel)
- Expense stipend of approximately $800 (for HUST. Other TFF programs might have other arrangements.)Participants are responsible for their own travel. Our Travel Bureau can arrange reasonably priced airfare.
